It took me days before I could must up the nerves to watch the news. The earthquake in Haiti, frightened me, saddened me and put me in to a bit of depression. I think about all the lives there, all the people who just like me, dream; hope, wish to see the fruits of their positive labor, their savings, planning and putting everything they have into what they believe, to see their dream come true.

While avoiding the news, I was still on the receiving end of reports from Laz, his kids, from friends about it. Some once more, blame GOD - the creator of all that's good. It irritates me because when he does something, he does it big style, all out, all the way - leaving no doubt that he indeed did it. Some from the Catholic church said it happened in Haiti because of their adverse beliefs in Voodoo and the dark practices they have. First...

2. Mexico has them all the time, they're Catholic

They all practice Voodoo too? I have to shake my head when stuff like that is stated.

I titled it the way I did because the man in the following video really brings it home, no doubt others have said it in their way, but still - it does make you think.

I'm not ashamed to say that I've always believed in God's word the bible, and I do believe he has a timer set for all of this nonsense to be brought to a conclusion. Question is - when? Also, part of my depression is, that I see things like this happening, and I wonder, why am I so caught up in trying to build a publishing business? Why do I dream of writing a best seller one day? Why seek and desire to bring on more writers of quality IR literature? And if that's not bad enough, I'm getting scammed by Lulu - all things considered, I feel like throwing in the towel.

This year started out so upbeat, but now - I'm feeling ill at ease - the negatives are coming in heavy and hard. Time will tell...

Thanks to some insightful, thoughtful friends - I'm going to shed the tears I cannot stop in behalf of those so far away, feeling fear and uncertainty for tomorrow, thousands mourning their loss of a child(ren) - wives, husbands, friends, property, business. Mourn alongside them, and then continue on until I cannot. Life is to be lived, shared, and used to enrich the lives of all that you touch. That's what I want to do, that's what I've always wanted to do. And when our fellow human beings are struck down, hurt, and yes, killed - it is right that we mourn and feel it to the depths of our soul, because if it does not touch us that way, we have somehow, become less than human.

Today - 19 January 2010 - is a new day. Time to keep building up, hopefully to balance out what is torn down. I've always loved people - we are a wonderful and stunning work of GOD when we do as we should; there is love, joy, laughter and a feeling of right in that when we give, care and share. And that, above all, is what I need to remind myself when tragedies such as in Haiti happen.
